Beautiful Beaune, the town we sadly spent the shortest amount of time in. Though there for less than 24 hours, Beaune receives first place for best meal, best wine, and best bed. Our first stop was a group tasting experience at the incredible Bouchard Aine & Fils winery.

So romantic. So in love. So tipsy.

Together our group sampled several local offerings and learned that wine has both notes AND legs!

By now our group had grown accustomed to the fact that the guides we were learning from in every country were the best of the best, another perk of traveling with Rick Steves! Our experiences were enriched by the expertise, hospitality, and enthusiasm of all of our wonderful guides.

Our little group of 28 walking to our French abode for the night.

The Hotel-Dieu de Beaune is a stunning medieval hospital founded in 1443. We were able to tour and learn about all the good done here via small audio devices that looked like old Nokia cell phones.

With Michelin star restaurants on almost every street, we figured we could throw a rock and eat dinner wherever the rock landed! Now don't worry, we didn't throw anything, but we did land in a wonderful restaurant called Le Conty. We enjoyed a set menu of traditional cuisine: escargot, beef bourguignon, and of course, wine!

With our bellies full of snails and our hearts full of gratitude for the journey so far and the friends we had made, we walked back to our hotel in the rain after a dinner to remember. Au revoir, Beaune!
